ED Filtron
ED Filtron: Advanced Filtration for HVAC & Process Cooling
ED Filtron is a unique water softening system designed for cooling water applications. Water softening occurs through physical not chemical means. Unlike ion exchange, no salts are used, and unlike reverse osmosis systems, ED Filtron can been manufactured at a price point that is realistic for Facilities Managers and HVAC Managers on a broad basis. ED Filtron is a long-term, environment-friendly, cost-saving substitute for chemical scale inhibitors in a traditional water treatment program.
In a study published in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, ED Filtron proved to keep a heat exchanger clean over time.
This study was performed in a laboratory setting under extremely aggressive water conditions: high hardness, high heat flux, and low water velocity. Within 40 hours the "No treatment" case had fouled severely, creating a large pressure drop across the test heat exchanger, whereas ED Filtron was able to keep the pressure drop to a negligible level. Filtration alone and ED 2000 (Electronic Anti-Fouling technology or "EAFT") alone also provided excellent water treatment performance under these very aggressive conditions.
ED Filtron has two components: the ED 2000 Electronic Anti-Fouling System and the Media Filter. Use the links below to learn more about each component.
